Israeli forces have killed more than 200 journalists in Gaza since October 7, 2023. That’s more than were killed in the US Civil War, both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan—combined. No outside journalists are permitted to enter Gaza, so these killings serve to obscure the mass slaughter of other innocents there.
Robert Greenwald’s new documentary, “Gaza: Journalists Under Fire,” is a compelling, moving, and persuasive account of this massacre within a massacre. I highly recommend it.
I interviewed Robert in the video above and included added several short clips from the documentary. I have “de-monetized” it on YouTube to minimize the chances of censorship or other algorithmic retaliation. I’ve also uploaded it separately to here to Substack, on the principle that redundancy serves resilience. (It’s unfortunate that these steps are necessary in the 21st-century USA, but they are.)
Robert film makes its brief against genocide even more compelling by shining a spotlight on the inspiring lives and tragic deaths of Palestinian journalists Belal Jadallah, Heba Al-Abadla, and Ismail al-Ghoul—as well as the fates of their loved ones, including young children. It’s not easy to watch, but it ends with a compelling call to action. It left me moved, but motivated.
