One thing that is good about after-the-event assessments is sharing different points of view. Here, from Philly, I'd say that the non-centralized discourse was a plus, and specifically that it was good that elder Republicans and youthful Anarchists were all circulating in the same crowd and being nice to one another. Maybe for just one day, but from start to finish.

Yes, Fire ICE and solidarity with immigrants was a main theme, and I think linked to broader concern for human rights expressed in multifaceted ways (LGBTQ solidarity and, yes, Gaza solidarity were strongly present). Corruption and abuse were big themes, not just regarding Trump but also other figures in this government.

I agree that we need to build a new agenda, but it didn't need to happen there. Understanding how to move on from the debacle of late Capitalism is still not in sight. A hard job lies ahead, and many voices are needed.
