Both the Israeli Government AND Hamas should be tried as war criminals.

well said, Richard.. What kind of innocence will be experienced going forward after such horror? Those who are still alive will only think of how much they lost after this!

In the fifties, I seem to recall the efforts from the US to assist Israel in bringing holocaust survivors to Palestine/Israel. The new UN in the New York gave the US the power to never agree with the membership, depending on the party in power. I was still young and never suspected that antisemitism was alive and well in the US and that our support of Israel was our foothold in the Mideast.

eloquent piece ... All this is just so horrific. Most in the USA(I think) tend to support Israel ... but that is less firm than it once was once people become aware of the suppression of freedoms of the most basic kind by the state of Israel for the Palestinians in Israel. But for the Palestinians(assuming they have a voice) to allow Hamas to act on their behalf is suicide. They know what Israel is capable of - how could they allow Hamas to establish itself as their ruling authority. I wish I understood all this more completely - everytime I try I just get buried in the history of it. And which history should I believe? I just watched a YouTube video, "Whose Land Is It? Palestine Or Israel? A 1982 Documentary" to try to sort it all out but got lost once again.
